・Profile

After graduated from BUNKA FASHION COLLEGE in Tokyo, Kissmi Wakisaka had worked as a corsage designer and creator at the renowned atelier for eight years. 

She then launched her own brand “kissmi wakisaka”, and designs and creates accessories mainly with “Washi”, Japanese traditional handmade paper.

“Accessory is not only a part of fashion, but also an artistic work to be appreciated.”

 

This is why she dedicates herself to showcasing her works at exhibitions all over Japan.

 

・What is “Washi”?

The word “Washi” comes from “wa” meaning Japanese and “shi” meaning “paper” in Japanese.

“Washi”, with a history of 1,300 years, is paper made by hand of craftspeople in traditional manner using wood pulp in Japan.

It is also known as a Japanese craft registered as a UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2014.
